| For the record Two Irish Lads may have been my first published novel, but it was not the first story I had ever written. That first story was Chum: Queen of Dogs. which I 'pencilled' when I was a seven-year-old student in Miss Prophet's Room at Pefferlaw Elementary School. Here, for you reading pleasure, is the story in its entirety. |

The original title was Chum: The king of dogs, but that had to be changed when Chum had a litter of pups in Chapter III. I still do that sort of thing now. Ah, rewrites, rewrites, rewrites...

Since I was on a limited budget I did my own illustrations as well.
